I thought I knew what to expect when I had my small cell popping of a triskelion done on my upper inside thigh. I had seen others have cell popping done and they didn't seem to suffer much. I was a little surprised by the first burst of pain, but did recover from that shock. Yes, it does sting a little (hey, you ARE being burned with a hot piece of metal), and the more sensitive the spot you have it done, the more it might sting. But, in the end, you have to think of it like other somewhat discomforting experiences -- they are "pain with a purpose."
What I really liked about the cell popping experience was the lasting effects over time. Most of the BDSM activities I've engaged in, whether drumming, flogging, spanking or caning, are very intense at the time and can put me into wonderful "highs" for quite a while afterwards, but the next day or at the most the day after that, they are pretty much just a pleasant memory. With the cell popping, there were various phases of "healing" that the burn went through, and it kept reminding me that I had been "marked." I could feel the texture of it on my body like braille, and touching it was a little sensitive and a regular (periodic but not constant) reminder of the experience. Even a week later (this varies from person to person, I am told) I could feel a little rush when I touched the popping. It's really quite special, and I expect I will have it re-done, rather than let it fade into memory. It was my first "body modification" and quite an awesome experience.

I have to say first off that I have no idea how to express how intense this experience was for me.
I attended my first munch in Salem where I volunteered to be a bottom for this cell popping demonstration.
I've had a tattoo, which I really didn't like at all. Several body piercings......the tongue ring was first, and was a ...well.....very nice feeling. The apradavya.....yikes...while it's healed and useable now 3 months later....wasn't at all what I'd expected.
I'd looked over the website and pretty much knew what would be happening. Some sort of localized burning. Not branding. I would also like to add at this point that I didn't like pain. I can't walk barefoot, whine like a baby when I have an owie, and generally avoided anything to do with pain.

The first poke....was what I'd expected....somewhere between a wasp sting, and well a red hot poker pressed against my skin.
The second one, was about the same with a side thought of okay I could do this.
The third and all the rest brought me to a place I have not been before.
The only way I have found to describe it was having an orgasm for 45 minutes.(I can't remember how long it actualy was but it was love at third poke). With each poke of the red hot things I struggled to understand how delicious that feeling was, and how it was possible I liked this controlled pain.
It's been 2 months now and (maybe less) and the design is still visible, but the morning after it did not hurt at all. I was disappointed. The 3rd day it was all I could do to stay focused at work or during the day as my pants would rub it right back into that orgasmic feeling of euphoria.
I can be lightly whipped, slapped, paddled on that area now and be right back to kneeling in that chair clutching at the walls face contorted in some fashion of extc.....
This is by far my most favorite means of body modification, and pain.

Connie has gone over my calf Triskellion three times so far, and it looks better each time! i'm looking forward to making it permanent, as well as having more designs done. It feels similar to a sunburn, and requires almost no aftercare like most other forms of body modification.
i view the process as a very intimate exchange. i think it could be a wonderful submission experience if used in a ritual manner - a Dom/me having a mark or initials placed on the body of a submissive. A brand is immediately permanent and it's over in two seconds. A cellpopping serves as a temporary mark - it can be made permanent, or it can be left to fade should a new design be desired. The process also takes some time, and the act of submitting to it lends itself perfectly to ritual.
If a mark isn't being placed by a Dom/me, the temporary aspect is appealing to me; i like to try things on - i enjoy play piercings but have yet to find one i want to commit to an actual hole in my body!
Cellpoppings are fun to wear, and always draw compliments. There's tons of patterns to choose from, or you can make your very own designs.

(AD Note: This contact came after a Dom tried cell popping without the CD video tutorial and had some problems. Further activities since getting the kit have gone much better.)
I heard about cell popping thru a friend, was so excited about it I made my own kit with some dissection probes and heat from the gas stove and did My first cell popping within the hour, unfortunately I didn't realize the time it took for the cell popping to get some colour so I burnt My subject too deep and she subsequently got a small infection. that has now cleared and the marks have reduced somewhat. in the meantime we ordered a cell popping kit from the wonderful Artistic Domme and we will be attempting our second cell popping this weekend. this time more informed and not expecting those "instant" results.
